Lean, mean ad-blocking machine

I'm back in the fold again. Installed DD-WRT onto my WNDR3700v2. Not much to choose from, there's only one version of DD-WRT for it: r17201 (06-14-11). It's a good version though.

I recently installed a great ad-blocking script that keeps its blacklists updated automatically. No more pesky web ads. If your router is DD-WRT compatible and has some memory to spare, check it out.

Dior reformulation

In 2008 Dior launced this one, Dior Homme Sport. Smells like citrus, ginger & wood. I love it. Perhaps not a real Sport fragrance ("too much wood in its base"), perhaps not worthy of the prestigious Dior Homme name ("synthetic, generic, a tragic disappointment"). Got a 50 ml bottle of it last Christmas. It's an excellent spring/summer scent IMO.

Then in 2012 Dior reformulated Dior Homme Sport. Why? I don't know for sure and Dior isn't telling but it's likely because of poor sales. Dior's fragrance branch is run by accountants, not by perfumers. I guess they think the new formulation will sell better and thus make them more money. It is now sold like this. Slightly different packaging, different colour juice. Jude Law still its face.

It's a nice, smooth and elegant scent that's very much like the original Dior Homme Sport. To my sense of smell it evokes a candy/lolly pop association. Nothing wrong with that, as I'm a sweet tooth. But that doesn't mean I like the idea of smelling like it. However it lacks the biting ginger freshness that I like so much in the original Dior Homme Sport.

I went searching for a 100 ml bottle of the original Dior Homme Sport. Department store shelves are now filled with the new Dior Homme Sport. Luckily the old one is still available online. Get it while you can if you love the old stuff!
